Being a garlic lover, I often get irritated having to "peel" garlic, so I buy this prepared stuff. Well, I sure got sucked in with this "crapola"?!
Whilst it tends to "sort of" taste like garlic, there is almost zero taste of garlic in the product. Just aweful!
As Gordon Ramsay would say, *** me!?"
The taste barely resembles "garlic".
It is quite apparent Aldi has ditched the previous supplier, which, may I say, was absolutely wonderful "Minced Garlic", as it was labelled. The very best minced garlic you could hope to buy. Now...this *** is just repellant. It barely registers on a scale of 1-10 as a 2, to be "masquerading" as "garlic".
Obviously, they couldn't screw a cheaper price out of the previous supplier, and went elsewhere...and you can't half tell.
Now we are saddled with this substandard ***
Aldi should be ashamed of themselves selling this shit?!!! Just disgraceful.
I don't know what the buyer had going through their head when they "did the deal", but the taste of the product didn't even register with them?!

Treated like a criminal

Updated by user Mar 08, 2025

The Aldi's staff and manager at the Caulfield Glen Huntly branch are children with no customer service skills at all. They do not care how their behaviour affects the brand as they don't particularly want to work there.I can't believe that this chain store in today's competitive day in age is still around or permitting behaviours of staff.

Original review Mar 06, 2025
Good afternoon. I am a regular patron and today I went to the Aldis on Glen Huntly road in Caulfield in Melbourne.

Whilest paying for my groceries at a self service till a young employee probably in his early 20s asked to look inside my handbag and my work backpack. I obliged as I am that sort of person.
After completing my payment I stood for about 10 min contemplating what had just taken place and realized that this employee obviously felt I either looked a particular way or acted in a manner that would suggest I had stolen something. Min passed as I watched no other customer get asked to do the same thing. I decided to find the manger to ask what look or behavior I had displayed that had prompted the employee to feel that I was a thief.

I met a manager!!! Trent who unsympathetically told me it was procedure to ask all customers to look inside personal bags and that it was on the window that they had permission to do so When I mentioned that I had been the only customer and would like an explanation, he became loud aggressive and told me to lay a complaint.
Managers should be trained in customer care.

This gentleman may not know the meaning of this, and clearly does not have the decorum one needs to be in charge of a store or staff. I strongly recommend that you rectify the situation before he and his staff offed more customers.

So you aren't that "sort of person"? Move on and make better choices next time.

Guest

I’m sure in the “minutes” that passed, no one had a backpack that needed checking. The manager did not care because your issue had no merit.

As for “decorum”, I’m fairly certain his staff is fine with him. Especially since he sided with the employee. The most hilarious part of your post is your attempt to come across as superior.

Prime example, not only did you misspell whilst (it’s not whilest), you used the word incorrectly. So the lesson here is, leave personal bags in your car and stop playing victim.

Too hard to send in my request. Another company making it hard to contact and I will not speak to a bloody robot if you go down that route.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I filled out all available spaces with my concerns but the page would not accept my message. If you go down the Woolies or Coles way of doing business you will be as popular as they have become.

I have always found Aldi to be great to deal with but I am bloody angry about this attempt for me to send a query . All I want to know is why is there so little in the way of lamb on the shelves.

Plenty of beef and pork but so little of of lamb and only 2 varieties. A simple request but your help page was very unhelpful.

Very bad customer service, can't even contact Aldi.

Original review Aug 12, 2024
A few weeks ago you advertised that there would be a Dutch week, this only happens once a week and I am always looking forward to buying some Dutch articles. However some articles never arrived, and those were the once, I really was looking forward of purchasing.
Because no-one can ring Aldi, and I mean the local store, I have to go to the store on the so-called days that Aldi are getting their products in, which is on Wednesday and Saturday.
I have been three times already and still those items I wanted are still not there.

Those articles are Tompouces and Chocomel, even though the website says they should be in store.
You should give customers the opportunity to ring the store, because every time it cost me petrol and time to check if the products have arrived. Sorry to say that I am not very happy with customer service, and I am not the only one.
I put my complaint on Facebook and had many many replies of other potential customers who agreed with me.
If you want to loose clients, keep on doing what you are doing now.

Peaches & catalogues

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

last week I went to local Aldi, Hamilton Vic, to purchase 825 g tin sliced peaches. None on the shelf.

I made enquiries with staff to be told, sorry they are not stocking them at present. The small tin are available. So I purchased two small tins peaches & also apricots. Oh my, your small tins peaches are HORRIBLE, UNPLEASANT TO TASTE.

If I wanted pears I would have purchased pears elsewhere. I stopped buying SPC/Ardmona for this reason. The fruit itself is so over cooked in cans, they are soft and mushy and you cannot taste peach flavour at all. Your large 825 gm tins were absolutely the best.

Tasted like peaches. Never again do I purchase your sm tins fruit. You have ruined them. I see they are made in Australia and large tins in China, why??!!

Catalolgue delivery, not happening, why?

Hamilton is a town of a lot of retired citizens who do not have access to onlilne apps, nor do I.

We now have no idea what your specials are. Please think about bringing back the "junk Mail delivery" for we older citizens.

Cheers Julie Gordon.

Rotten food

Milk curdles every time 2 to 3 days before use by date. I bought refrigerated butter chicken.

The use by date was the 15th of December. It exploded in my fridge on the 4th of December.

Mince meat goes bad the day after I buy it. I cannot afford to shop at Aldi any more.

Impossible Dream - Contacting Aldi

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I only use Aldi when I have to, such as a product I can't find anywhere else, other than that I stay clear. The staff have no idea about the products they have and appear to have no input into decision making in that particular store.

Trying to email or speak to anyone presents frustration of epic proportions. Make sure you have plenty of spare time before you do this, because there are lots of hoops to jump through.

No Stock

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Hi my name is Kevin Grinter and i have been a loyal customer of Aldi,s now for over 10 years . I spend between $11,000 to $15,000 a year at Aldi and i have just returned from your Sebastopol store pissed off again for the last time , Aldi is not a super market it is a corner store because i normally spend up to $300.00 with my weekly shop and today it was a whole $66.00 and because you had no stock and this has been happening for the last 6 months , and on principal i refused to buy scotch or vodka .

My time is worth money and all Aldi does is treat me with contempt because they cannot supply me normal groceries and waste my time , it is time for me to go back to Coles

Aldi claims to be the cheaper than Coles and Wollies, but you never have the stock , so your claim of being the cheapest is fraudulent and insulting .

I feel sorry for the staff because they are as pissed off as i am so instead of advertising your so called specials get stock on the shelves and stop making fradulant claims of cheap groceries when you have no stock.

I love the Organic black tea bags but this year the supplier has an obvious fault with their assembling process. The strings fall off every time I use them.

If Aldi does not pass this back to their supplier this problem will not be fixed. It is disappointing as obviously there is no customer service.

Unsatisfactory meat purchase

Aldi Grocery Australia - Unsatisfactory meat purchase

Aldi Grocery Australia - Unsatisfactory meat purchase - Image 3

On Wednesday 24 July 2024 ,my wife purchased Jindurra Station beef chuck casserole weight 0.850kg for $11.98 ( $13.99 kg ) as she needed to keep within our budget as we are pensioners.

On unwrapping the plastic container and while cutting the meat to prepare a casserole for our consumption she noticed quite a lot of fat which was inedible.

She weighed this amount of fat to be 0.250kg which left usable amount of beef to be 0.600kg that she could use.

I find this inexcusable for any consumer.

We have always been avid Aldi shoppers since moving from NSW to SA , 9 years ago.

The meat purchase was from Aldi at Colonnades shopping centre Noarlunga Centre SA 5168.

I would appreciate a contact from your customer service department to explain.

Regards

Denis Jones.
